Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
On behalf of the Zionist Rabbinic Coalition, a coalition of rabbis from all denominations united in our support for and love of Israel we write to tell you how disturbed we were by the recent disruptions of worship services at the Egalatarian section of the Western Wall on erev Tisha B’Av.
The observance of this holiday, which commemorates the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash, by those who have not learned the lessons of our sages about the dangers and consequences of sinat hinam is a Hillul HaShem, a desecration of both the day and the place where the incident took place. It is particularly upsetting to all who love and care about our people, and who believe in clal Yisrael and ahavat Yisrael.
We hope that steps will be taken to ensure that such disruptions do not occur again and that the plan calling for greater protection and recognition of the rights of all Jews to pray in dignity and respect in this area and which was postponed will be implemented soon.
